Installation of Hallway Electrical Outlets Starts July 31

Please note that the Board of Directors has hired H & L Electric to install hallway electrical outlets in all hallways of both buildings. The upgrade will provide building staff with greater ease and convenience for vacuuming the hallways (which currently lack any outlets).

The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 31st and will take approximately 2 ½ days to complete. During this time, residents will have full access to all floors.

If you have any questions, you may contact the Board at wghpresident@gmail.com or Howard Landman at 212-483-0700 ext. 309 or hlandman@sirenmgt.com

Lessons Learned: In The Event You Smell Gas

Last month, as residents of 870 may recall, we experienced a gas leak one evening which resulted in a building evacuation. Fortunately, the gas leak was minor and was only due to a gas stove top which was not properly in the “off” position. From this experience, however, the Board realized that our building evacuation procedures had not been previously communicated and so wanted to share the following guidelines with residents in the event of a gas leak in the future:

* First, call 911 or Fire Department
* Second, call our super Sam Rosario
* If an evacuation is suggested by the Fire Department and/or ConEd, pull the fire alarm
* When evacuating, get some distance from the building by either crossing 181 or Haven

In the event of a building evacuation, it is the Board’s strong preference that this be coordinated/conducted by the Fire Department who are most qualified to do this safely and efficiently, esp. in the event of needing to evacuate residents who require help with stairs.

860 FIOS Update

Verizon recently informed the Board that 860 is now on the schedule for FIOS installation in December, with a possibility of being moved earlier to this month. The Board will update residents regarding the date as we know more specifics. Once installed, Verizon will distribute information about how to sign-up. Please note that the current installation timeline is a general target provided by Verizon and that it’s possible the date may be pushed back further.

This Week in 860: Elevator Shut-Off and Lobby Marble Cleaning

The 860 elevator will be out of service Monday, Oct 31st through Friday, Nov 4th. Painting will be done from 9AM to 5PM daily and the elevator will be put back into service each evening.

Please also note that marble cleaning in the 860 lobby is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov 2nd and Thursday, Nov 3rd. The lobby will stay open during work hours, however residents are asked NOT to sit on the radiator covers and window sill in order to allow the sealer to properly dry.
